The 70 Sixth Form students accepting their A-level results today at Catholic High School Chester have been praised by the teachers for their "resilience" despite three years of the “huge disruption”.
Director of Sixth Form Bernadette Letissier was amongst the leadership team present on the day at the Handbridge-based school, offering support and advice to students.
Many tears of joy were seen amongst students, including David Brylowski who achieved A in Computer Science, A in Maths and B in Physics. He will be heading off to study Civil Engineering at University of Manchester. Daniel Craig achieved straight A’s in Maths, Chemistry, Physics and AS Further Level Maths and will be heading to University of Leeds with an Excellence Scholarship to study Economics and Finance.
Alice Gribbin will be going on to Durham University to study Psychology after scoring an A* in the subject, an A in Biology and a B in Chemistry.
Molly Lawson will be going on a different path to her fellow students with aspirations to join Cheshire Police, having achieved an A* in Criminology, B in Biology and a B in Chemistry.
Mrs Letissier spoke of her pride for the students. She said:
“Despite never having sat external exams, the students have done exceptionally well and we are so proud of every single one of them."
They have shown tenacity and resilience beyond their years and we wish them every success in their future.” The students will now be automatically entered into the highly successful Alumni group which now has more than 1,500 members, spanning across the 50 school years at the school.
