Abbey Gate College GCSE Pupils Achieve 100% Pass Rate

Abbey Gate College has always prided itself on the professionalism, honesty and dedication of its staff and how the care and attention afforded to each and every student enables them to work towards achieving their personal and academic potential.

The awarding of academic grades this year has not been far from the news in the last few weeks but the College is extremely pleased to announce that as a result of the Centre Assessed Grades given by teachers at the College, that all students achieved at least 5 GCSE’s at grades 9-4, including a 100% pass rate in English and Mathematics.

18% of all grades were at 9 or 8 (equivalent to the old A* grade) and 41% of grades were a 9, 8 or 7 (old A* and A).

Particular mention must go to Amy Clayton (four grade 8s and five grade 7s); Joe Cooper (seven grade 9s, two grade 8s and one grade 7); Emily Holroyd (four grade 9s, four grade 8s and two grade 7s) and Callum Potter (five grade 9s, four grade 8s and one grade 7). Other notable ‘high achievers’ include William Ashfield, Matty Bailey, Clara Carson, Joe Casey, Heidi Edwardson, Marta Gomez-Castellets, Joe Martin, Zak Packer and Ciaran Paterson who achieved grades 9-6 in all of their subjects.

The school is also proud that the value added score for each pupil on average indicate that all grades are almost one grade higher than the baseline grades.  This is a fantastic achievement and is as a result of the hard work and dedication of all of the students and staff throughout the time of their studies.

The school is looking forward to welcoming the pupils back who have chosen to study their A Levels at the College and continue their love of learning.

Headmistress Tracy Pollard said: “I am thrilled that our pupils have reason to celebrate today, especially after months of uncertainty about how their grades would be awarded.

“Throughout their final year they have worked incredibly hard and we are proud that they have remained optimistic and positive.

“As we saw with our A Level pupils, our students have proved to us how resilient and determined they are and they should be extremely proud of themselves and excited about what the future holds.”
