BLUES MATCH PREVIEW - BANBURY UNITED v CHESTER FC

Chester FC will look to build on a steady start to the National League North season as they visit Banbury United this weekend.

After opening day defeat at Bishop’s Stortford, Calum’s side have bounced back well with a convincing win over King’s Lynn and a goalless draw against Chorley where they dominated for the majority of the game.

It’s left the Blues with four points with three games and, as players who have picked up knocks to start the campaign slowly get back up to pace, there is lots to be encouraged about as we head to Oxfordshire – including a new recruit who could be in line to make his debut in Sheffield United loanee Frankie Maguire.

THE OPPOSITION:

It was all change at Banbury United this summer. They finished last season in 17th place, before Manager Andy Whing resigned – ending up in the National League with Solihull Moors.

Mark Jones took over at the club, and saw his side lose each of the opening two games 3-0 – but bounced back with an impressive victory at Gloucester City on Tuesday night.

Last season’s match at Banbury saw instances of disorder and anti-social behaviour involving a small minority on both sides, that put the safety of supporters and players at risk.

In conjunction with Banbury United, Thames Valley Police and Cheshire Police, we strongly discourage anyone intent in causing anti-social behaviour or disorder from travelling to Banbury or attempting to attend this fixture.

Operational Football Officers from Cheshire Police will be present to identify individuals subject to club bans or those intent on causing disruption, and entry to the ground will be refused.
