Chester FC recorded back-to-back victories after a well-deserved 2 - 0 success on the road at King’s Lynn Town this afternoon.
The damage was done before the break courtesy of Jack Bainbridge’s deflected effort and Kev Roberts’ flicked headed finish.
Jack Bainbridge’s powerful effort from close-range earned the Blues the lead as the effort was diverted over the goalline after a number of deflections off home defenders.
The final touch came off the unfortunate Michael Clunan, who was powerless when the ball ricocheted off him inside the six-yard box to break the deadlock.
Calum McIntyre’s side continued to dominate through the first period, but Dylan Mottley-Henry failed to take advantage of the next major chance when his close-range header dropped narrowly wide of the post.
Connor Woods went close just after the hour-mark but his curled strike sailed just over the top after positive play from Pat Jones on the right-hand side.
The Linnets’ best opening of the first-half came through Morgan Williams but George Murray-Jones was equal to his close-range strike and palmed over.
Kev Roberts doubled the lead on the stroke of the interval thanks to a well-guided header.
Lewis Leigh delivered with precision from a wide free-kick and K. Roberts glanced past Paul Jones to claim his first goal of the campaign.
A third almost arrived just prior to the hour-mark, when Woods turned past defenders before his drilled effort was deflected behind by a last-ditch block.
The hosts rarely threatened throughout the contest, with the best chance of the second period coming courtesy of Michael Clunan whose effort floated comfortably over from the edge of the area.
Murray-Jones thwarted the home side from set pieces during the latter stages, as the Blues recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this campaign, following up Tuesday night’s success at Radcliffe.
A two-week break beckons now for Chester before a clash with high-flying South Shields at the Deva Stadium.
