Cheshire Dash raised vital funds for The Joshua Tree Children’s Cancer Charity

Transforming Lives 100-mile cycle ride ‘The Cheshire Dash 2022’ raised an incredible £60,000 in aid of local children’s cancer charity, The Joshua Tree.

The Transforming Lives Foundation, set up by Mike and Catriona Marshall, chose The Joshua Tree to benefit from the popular cycling event which took place on Saturday 2nd July.

Over 80 riders took on the 100-mile cycle challenge that charted across through the Cheshire countryside and up some of the most grueling climbs in England, all in one day.

The exclusive event sponsored by Rolls-Royce exceeded the fundraising target and have raised vital funds to help the charity continue to support families affected by childhood cancers.

Catriona Marshall of Transforming Lives said “Every year we’re amazed and delighted by the effort, energy and enthusiasm that goes into this event by riders, helpers, sponsors and local businesses. Everyone wants to do their bit to help, especially during a time when charities are having to work harder than ever to do the essential things they do. We thank everyone for their help and for pedaling the miles for a very special charity, The Joshua Tree. We’re already looking forward to The Cheshire Dash 2023.”

Rich Driffield, Joshua Tree CEO commented “A huge thank you to the incredible riders who took on the grueling challenge of the 100-mile Cheshire Dash, not forgetting all the supporters for their encouraging cheers and to everyone who has donated.

This year, we have already received over 55 new referrals from families across Cheshire, North-West England and North Wales, the funds raised will make a huge difference to the charity and to the lives of families affected by childhood cancers. We cannot thank Mike, Cat and the team from Transforming Lives and Running Bear enough for supporting The Joshua Tree”.

To date The Joshua Tree have supported over 335 families with bespoke programmes of support to improve the emotional wellbeing and mental health of all immediate and extended family members who are affected by childhood cancers, across North-West England and North Wales, for as long as they need it.

A huge thank you to Cat and Mike Marshall for their support and to all the riders for the incredible efforts and donations!

Transforming Lives is a charitable foundation set up by Mike and Catriona Marshall to help transform the lives of people who most need it.  The foundation is responsible for organising the unique Cheshire Dash for Duchenne UK in 2018 and 2019 and Cheshire Dash for Brainwave 2021.

Working in partnership with local Alderley Edge business Running Bear Sports, together have raise vital funds multiple causes across Britain such as Together for short Lives, CRY and Supportability.

The Joshua Tree, to date, have received over 335 referrals of families affected by childhood cancers.

Children’s cancer charity, The Joshua Tree was founded in 2006 by Lynda and David Hill after their son was diagnosed with leukaemia and discovered a distinct lack in support services for all family members during the traumatic experience of childhood cancer.  The charity works to support and improve the emotional well-being and mental health of all family members affected by childhood cancer, in the North-West of England and North Wales, for as long as they need it.

To help expand and enrich the delivery of this service the charity completed the construction of a new purpose-built support centre in Sandiway, Cheshire after 13 years of fundraising! The charity does not receive any statutory funding and relies on fundraising from events like The Cheshire Dash which are integral to helping them support families affected by childhood cancers.
