The Cheshire Women’s Cricket League is delighted to announce that it will once again be operating competitive cricket from Sunday July 26th onwards.
In the Western Division of a Summer Series, Chester Boughton Hall, Nantwich, Oxton, Porthill Park and Upton will play home and away in a series of 20 and 30 over matches.
Ashton-on-Mersey, Didsbury, Leigh, Stockport Georgians and Stockport Trinity will contest an Eastern Division along similar lines.
The competitions will be ‘semi-competitive’ in that there will be no trophies for the divisional winners, although there may be awards for teams and/or individuals at the end of the season. There will be no official final or end of season play-off between teams from the two regional divisions, unless the clubs concerned wish to arrange this.
All matches that are cancelled or abandoned before the requisite number of overs for a result have been played will be permitted to be re-arranged, and if necessary, this can be on a midweek date at reduced overs.
There is also likely to be a competition at development level involving Heaton Mersey/Cheadle, Lindow, Langley, Wistaston Village and Chester Boughton Hall's second team.
Appleton, Oakmere, Lymm Oughtrington Park, Woodley, Didsbury 2nd XI, Stockport Georgians 2nd XI, Hawarden Park and Hawk Green have opted not to enter a formal competition this year but remain available for friendly fixtures.
The League XI will play the MCC on Thursday August 13 at Nantwich CC. Once again, the selected team gives six players the opportunity to experience this fixture for the first time:
Ali Cutler (Chester Boughton Hall, capt), Seren Smale (Chester BH, wk), Tilly Buss (Chester BH), Daisy Mullan, Ellie Davey, Kasey Bentham (all Leigh), Carys White (Stockport Trinity), Ilenia Sims, Emily Stones, Ellie-Mae Davies (all Porthill Park), Beth Caunce (Ashton-on-Mersey).
Additional fielders: Rosie Davis (Didsbury) and another TBC.
