Chester & Wirral Football League - Doug Johnson Shield

Cup action dominated the weekend fixtures in the Chester & Wirral Football League.

It started on Friday night in the Doug Johnson shield as Hooton vets beat a stubborn Ellesmere Port Red Lions vets 2-1.  

Matt Bush netted for Red Lions, but a Dave Rudge double was enough for Hooton to progress.

Result of the day on Saturday will go to Capenhurst Villa vets as they seen off Mersey Royal vets 5-2. Cam Forster netted a brace, Carl Ngiam and Mike Thelwell singles as well as Anthony Aston who struck a superb 25-yard effort into the top corner.  Royal replied with a Craig Griffith penalty and an impressive strike from Anthony Cotgrave.

Tarvin Athletic vets had Kevin Rogerson on target with a brace and with Robert Edge, Sean Taylor, Gordon Piggin and Max Ashbury all grabbing singles they progressed through to the next round at the expense of Ellesmere Port Town vets who replied with goals from Simon Saunders, Rob Blackwell and Daz Holmes.

Upton Youth vets also had a hat-trick hero in James Mcintosh and was joined on the scoresheet by Gaz Kelly and Gaz Stevenson plus an own goal from West Kirby gave Upton a 5-1 victory.

CWFL Dee 106.3 League Cup:

Kelsall FC hit an incredible 10 without reply against Blacon Youth to avenge their opening day league defeat.  Dom Coates led the way with a hat-trick and Mikey Taylor, Brandon Needham, Adam Pickering, Tom Hulme, Liam Baker, Luke Jackson and Dan Evans all got singles.

In a much closer affair FC Farndon defeated Christleton by the odd goal in seven to progress.  Top Scorer Lee Parry added to his 11 league goals by netting a hat-trick and Mike Mcintyre grabbed a single.  Replying for Christleton was Alex West with a double and Dan Ward a single.

CWFL Cayzer Shield

Trey lattie bagged himself 6 goals and Ellis Moore netted twice as Waggon & Horses defeated Hoole Rovers 8-1 in the Cayzer Shield

Tarvin Precision Vets Division 4

The only league game to take place was in Division 4 and Frodsham Park Vets defeated Hoole Rangers Vets by the odd goal in five as goals from Gary Gerrard, Will Beales and Joseph Morphet done the damage for Frodsham. Dave Williams and Ash English scored Hoole’s consolation goals.
