Friday night Tarvin Precision Vets Division 1
In a tight affair on Friday night Mersey Royal Vets gained some revenge for last months Vets cup defeat by Capenhurst Villa Vets. Stuart Hardman and Rich Gleason got the all-important goals for Royal to claim the points and send Royal six points clear.
On Saturday Higher Bebington Kelma Vets found themselves one down as Dave Rudge gave Hooton Vets the lead, but Kelma struck back when Ben McWah equalised, and Mark Jones grabbed the winner, but the real hero was Kelma goalkeeper Terry Cairns who made two superb penalty saves.
CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division
Big game of the day in the Premier Division seen unbeaten FC Farndon travel to unbeaten league leaders Waggon & Horses, and it was the league leaders who prevailed by the odd goal in five. Lee Parry and Dan Wagstaffe netted for Farndon, but Waggon had Harley Benion, Lewis Coppack and Trey Lattie on target to take the points in a result which puts Waggon firmly in the driving seat to claim the CWFL Queensferry Premier Division title.
Last season’s champions Blacon Youth, fresh back after a short break to regroup got back to winning ways as they defeated Kelsall 3-2. Liam Edwards, Robbie Joinson and Aaron Rowlands were on target for Blacon whilst Adam Pickering and Dom Coates were the Kelsall marksmen.
Christleton and Hoole Rangers drew 1-1 to take a point a piece, Victor Arongundade netted for Hoole whilst Alan Bond got Christletons goal.
Moreton FC claimed a superb 5-3 win against Chester Nomads. Ash Jameson and Oli Lea both bagged doubles and Ewan McCready got a single. Scoring for Nomads was Tim Ashbrook, Was Sinclair and Macauley Salter.
CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship
Only one fixture in the Championship survived the weather as Handridge FC put Cheshire Vikings to the sword winning 3-0. Liam McGowan, Adam Hodgson and Jack Radford got the all-important goals to put Handbridge third in the league.
Cestrian Alex had Chris Hibbert on target with a double and Elliot Davies got a single as they edged out Hoole Rovers by the odd goal in five.
CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2
Upton Vets moved up to third in the table with a brilliant 3-0 away win at second placed Winsford Town Vets. Daniel Stevenson grabbed a double and John Cadwallader got a single.
CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 3
Roy Cardus bagged a treble whilst Riad Erraji and Phillip Reeves both got singles as FC Farndon Vets beat Chester Nomads Vets 5-3 and in doing so moved up to third in the table. On target for Chester Nomads was John Platten, Tom Cairns and Michele Appolonio.
CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 5
Fran Tolman netted for Poulton Athletic Vets, but Port Sunlight Vets had Neil Oates and Terry Dobbins on target to secure the 3 points for Sunlight. Unfortunately, Poulton’s Robbie Black suffered a broken leg, and all involved in the CWFL would like to wish Robbie a speedy recovery.
Crossway Vets had Josh Jones and Wes Roberts on target but that wasn’t enough as Frodsham Vets Reserves went one better with a hattrick from Simon Spinillo.
Wirral Junior Cup 1st Round
In the Wirral Junior Cup 1st round Ellesmere Port Town Vets managed to see off Sutton Rangers Reserves in an entertaining game. Gareth Lupton bagged a treble and Matty Gardener got a single as Town won by the odd goal in seven.
