CWFL Olympic Trophies Championship Division
Friday night football kicked off with a bang as Fender FC claimed a thrilling 4-3 victory over FC Farndon. Liam Keating netted twice, with Charlie Gouldson and Jamie Williams also finding the back of the net for Fender. Despite a brave fightback from Farndon, with goals from Leo Davenport, Andrew Walker, and Aaron Lloyd, they couldn't salvage any points. The win solidifies Fender’s place in 6th, while Farndon remain in 8th.
League leaders Whitegate United FC continued their march at the top of the table with a hard-fought 2-1 win over struggling Sutton Rangers Reserves. Goals from Shaun Howarth and Lewis Larkin proved enough to keep Whitegate four points clear at the summit. Sutton Rangers, despite battling well, remain rooted to the bottom in 12th place. Meanwhile Horse & Jockey FC earned a valuable point in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Upton JFC 3rds. Ryan Broomfield, Henry Whitefield, and Josh Robinson all scored for Upton, but Horse & Jockey responded with goals from Jamie Maddocks, Thomas Evans, and Joe Burns. Despite Upton’s position in the table, they will see this as a missed opportunity to close the gap on the top two.
AFC Waverton kept their title hopes alive with a commanding 4-1 win over Chester Nomads FC 4th. Goals from Sam Baxter, Owen Hughes, Jack Broadhurst, and Harry Broster ensured Waverton stay just six points behind the leaders in 4th place. Tommy Harries scored a consolation goal for Chester Nomads, who remain 11th.
CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division
In the Hoole derby, Hoole Rovers FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over local rivals Hoole Rangers FC. Despite an earlier missed penalty, Tom Wynne Jones made amends with a decisive strike that ultimately proved to be the match-winner. The narrow victory not only hands Hoole Rovers local bragging rights but also earns them a crucial three points in their push up the league table.
Chester Nomads 3rds secured a crucial three points with a solid 2-0 win over Christleton FC UDA, who currently sit at the bottom of the table. Cal Caulfield’s and Santhanaraj Girish found the net, ensuring a decisive victory for the Nomads and helping them pull further away from the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Christleton UDA remains without a point this season, but their performance has shown glimpses of promise. As the season progresses, they will aim to build on these encouraging moments.
Waggon & Horses FC put in a dominant display to claim a 4-0 win over Kelsall FC. A brace from Aiden Field, along with goals from Shaun Gregerson and Caleb Rose, secured an emphatic victory that sees Waggon & Horses strengthen their position in the top four. A result, which leaves Kelsall in mid-table.
Upton JFC Reserves ran riot against Cestrian Alex FC, securing a remarkable 8-0 victory. Brothers Aaron and Jack Rowland each delivered outstanding performances, both netting hat-tricks, while Sam Davies contributed with two additional goals. This emphatic result propels Upton JFC Reserves up to 3rd place in the table, while Cestrian Alex continues to slide down the standings.
CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 3
In the sole fixture of the Vets Division Three, Eastham Vets claimed a 4-2 victory over Tarvin Athletic Vets. Gareth Lupton stood out with two goals, while Paul Leay and Rich Courtney also found the net. Despite efforts from Robert Edge and Dom Carter, who each scored for Tarvin, they were unable to stop Eastham from securing all three points.
CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 4
In a tightly contested encounter, Dee Rangers Vets secured a 3-2 victory against Hoole Ranges FC Vets, propelling them to the top of Division 4. Chris Scutter was the star of the show for Dee Rangers, netting two goals, while Andy Young contributed with another. Hoole Ranges fought valiantly, with goals from Andy Young and Rich Whincup, but their efforts fell short as they sought to earn a point.
In another matchup, Frodsham Park Vets delivered a commanding performance, defeating Upton JFC Vets 3-0. Goals from Will Beales, Craig Ellison, and Rob Davies showcased Frodsham's attacking prowess and solidified their strong start to the season.
CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 5
In Division 5 Cheshire Vikings Vets stole the spotlight in a remarkable display of scoring prowess. The Vikings dismantled Frodsham Vets Reserves with a staggering 13-1 victory, showcasing an attacking masterclass. Leading the charge was Stuart Hardman, who found the back of the net six times. His teammate, Micheal Shaw, added four goals of his own, while contributions came from Lee Pickles, Peter McWilliams, and Edward Wylde, each netting once. Frodsham's lone consolation came from Campbell.
In another standout match, Port Sunlight Vets secured a convincing 5-1 victory over Hoole Wanderers Vets. Matt Nayland was the star of the show, netting a hat-trick, while Chris Pallard and Dave Price each added to the tally.
In a closely contested match, West Kirby FC Vets played out a 1-1 draw against Crossway Vets. Josh Jones scored for West Kirby, while Crossway managed to earn a valuable point.
Witton Albion Vets maintained their impressive form with a commanding 7-0 victory over Great Sutton FC Vets. The attacking display was led by Oliver James, who scored three goals, supported by Kev Douglas one, Dave Ashley with two and an unfortunate own goal from the opposition. Witton’s solid performance keeps them in contention at the top of the table.
Cheshire Vets Cup
In the final first-round clash of the Cheshire Cup, Neston Nomads held a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime, but Birkenhead staged a thrilling second-half comeback to clinch a 4-3 victory. Neston's goals were scored by Andy Thorpe, who netted twice, and Callum Kenny, who added one. For Birkenhead, the comeback goals came from Ricci Locke, Lee Gibson, Timmy Bigland, and James Atherton. This result will see Birkenhead rewarded with a trip to Division one big hitters Mersey Royal vets.
