The popular Christmas Memory Lane Craft & Gift Fair returns to Ellesmere Port Market on Saturday 30th November from 10am to 4pm.
The market will be open every day in December leading up to Christmas.
It's a magical time for the children with a Christmas Grotto:
14th and 21th December from 11am to 3pm.
There is a charity Memory Tree located in the main seating area, pick up a tag from participating traders, and leave a donation.
All proceeds to Child Bereavement UK.
Also remember to post your letters to Father Christmas in the post box near to the grotto, leave your name and contact number, you may receive a call from him whilst he is in the elf’s workshop.
The Mayor of Ellesmere Port, Councillor Paul Donovan, will be switching on the Christmas lights in Ellesmere Port on Friday 29th November from the Civic Square.
A traditional lantern parade around the town centre will be led by Chester’s Karamba Samba band. Over 100 local school children will join the parade with their hand made lanterns before the light switch on countdown. Artist Russell Kirk will be bringing the giant Queen of Light puppet, the Stag, Unicorn, Jack Frost and Angel.
Activities are from 4.30pm until 6.15pm with free children's rides, live entertainment from local schools and singers, food and drink plus of course Father Christmas supported by Ellesmere Port Round Table. Following the switch on Santa will be starting his streets visits.
The local schools taking part in the Lantern parade are Brookside Primary, Cambridge Road, Wolverham Primary and Whitby Heath.
Children from Brookside Primary have made the star on top of the Ellesmere Port Christmas Tree this year. Every child and staff member added a thumb print to Christmas baubles attached to the star.
The Mayor of Ellesmere Port, Councillor Paul Donovan said:
I’d also like to thank EET Fuels and Encirc who have kindly sponsored our fabulous Christmas Tree and the festive lights. Thanks also to the generous support from Ellesmere Port Councillors, and our Charter Trustees. Most of this event is free, I’m looking forward to sharing our lights switch on with Ellesmere Port residents. Happy Christmas Ellesmere Port."
