Citizens Advice Flintshire has announced plans to celebrate Volunteers Week 2024, taking place from 1st to 7th June.
Volunteers Week is an annual celebration of the extraordinary contribution that volunteers make to our communities. Citizens Advice Flintshire currently has more than 30 dedicated volunteers and 8 trustees, who play vital roles in the organisation's work.
Throughout the week, Citizens Advice Flintshire will be using social media and press to acknowledge the work of volunteers and highlight the many ways they’re contributing to our service.
On Tuesday, June 4th, we’re holding a Volunteer Appreciation Lunch to show our volunteers how much we appreciate their time and hard work. The event will give us the opportunity to present each volunteer with a certificate to recognise their contribution to CAF.
Our Volunteer Recruitment Drive will offer opportunities for anyone interested in becoming a volunteer to find out more about the different roles available and how to get involved.
Sophie Jones, Learning Support and Admin Coordinator, said:
"Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our organisation. They give their time and expertise to help us support people who are facing challenges in their lives. During Volunteers Week, we want to take the opportunity to celebrate their incredible contribution and say a huge thank you."
Liz Griffith, a volunteer at Citizens Advice Flintshire, added:
"I volunteer because I want to make a difference in the lives of others. It's rewarding work, and I'm proud to be part of such a supportive team."
Paul Bertrand joined the organisation as a volunteer in 2019 and has since taken on a part time role at Citizens Advice Flintshire: “It was very much a two way street when I joined. I wanted to be involved with Citizens Advice because I respected their work and felt I could offer some useful experience. As it turned out, the support, friendship and experience I got in return has helped me become a much more confident person. That, in itself, is reward enough.”
Citizens Advice Flintshire encourages anyone interested in volunteering to get in touch. The organisation is keen to hear from people with experience but also younger people who could use the experience towards their career progression.
