Ellesmere Port property linked to drug activity closed down

A property in Ellesmere Port linked to drug activity has been closed down thanks to the work of local officers.

On Wednesday 29 September, officers from the local Beat Team attended Warrington Magistrates’ Court where they were granted a closure order for the property on Percival Road.

The order was granted under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and will see the house boarded up for three months.

Regular checks will be conducted at the property to ensure that the closure order has not been breached.

If anyone is found to have breached the order they are liable to arrest and up to six months’ prison, and/or a £5,000 fine.

Officers worked to secure the order by gathering evidence in relation to illegal drug related activities inside the address along with anti-social behaviour, violence and noise nuisance.

As a result of their hard work, the occupants of the premises were ordered to leave the address and find alternative accommodation.

Police Constable Warwick Evans said: “This is a fantastic result and I know that it will be much welcomed news to residents who have been living in misery due to the criminal activity occurring in and around the address.

“This order proves that we will act on any piece of information provided to us by the public and work to gather the required evidence to get the results we need to make the town a safer place to live and visit.

“Officers will pay passing attention and monitor the property over coming months to ensure that there are no breaches of the order.”

Anyone with concerns about drug related activity or anti-social behaviour in their area is encouraged to report it to Cheshire Police on 101 or via:
