A man has been jailed for possession with intent to supply Class B drugs following a police raid in Ellesmere Port.
On Monday 13 November officers from Cheshire Police executed a warrant at a storage unit on Indigo Road following intelligence from the local community.
When searching the unit officers found £2,145 cash and more than 2.7kg of cannabis valued at between £11,000 and £19,250.
After hearing about the raids Daniel Taylor, of Princes Road, Ellesmere Port, handed himself in to officers on Tuesday 14 November and admitted that he was renting the unit officers had raided.
Taylor was subsequently arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.
He appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday 22 December where he was sentenced to 16 months in prison after pleading guilty to the charge.
Following the sentencing Detective Sergeant Graeme Carvell, of Ellesmere Port Proactive Policing Team, said:
“This is a fantastic result, and it truly shows the value of information from the local community.
“As soon as he heard about the raids Taylor knew that the game was up, and he had no option but to hand himself in and admit that he was renting the unit.
“As a result, he is now behind bars facing the consequences of his actions and a large quantity of illegal drugs have been removed from the streets of Ellesmere Port.
“It is of paramount importance to us to remove these drugs and those who supply them as they have a hugely detrimental impact to our communities and cause widespread misery.
“We act on all information that we receive and would ask the public to continue to do their part in helping to make Ellesmere Port a safer place to live.
