Chester will look to build on Tuesday’s performance as they host Southport this weekend.
Following last Saturday’s disappointing 4-0 loss to Boston United, the Blues put in a much-improved display against second placed Brackley Town – only denied three points following a freak stoppage time own goal.
Southport have been on a fine run since the reverse fixture back at the end of October. Sitting second from bottom when we last met, Liam Watson’s men are now firmly established in the play-off places and defeat at Kettering in midweek was their first league loss in 15 matches.
