Mitchell Mazda has teamed up with The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity to host their first ever ‘Movies at the Manor’ drive-in cinema experience.
Set in the grounds of the picturesque Thornton Manor Estate, families and social bubbles will have the chance to watch their favourite films from the comfort of their vehicle, all while raising vital funds to support local people living with cancer.
Taking place between Wednesday 19th and Friday 21st August 2020, movie fans will be able to watch cult classics such as Back to the Future, Alien and Dirty Dancing, plus musicals including Grease and Mamma Mia, while families can enjoy matinee screenings of Disney favourites such as Moana and Toy Story. Customers will be able pre-order snack hampers and collect on arrival to ensure a safe and contact-free environment.
Across the event The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is offering the chance for supporters to bring the big screen experience home with a raffle to win a home cinema kit; a prize which includes a brand new projector, screen, blankets and sweet treats. With the continued help from sponsors, charitable donations and proceeds from Movies at the Manor, the charity can prolong its life-changing work across the community.
Commenting on the event, Brian Blanchard, Mazda Brand Manager at the Mitchell Group, said: “We’re really looking forward to hosting our first ever drive-in cinema experience with such a fantastic charity. We really appreciate the hard work The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity does for the community, and the drive-in cinema is the perfect social distancing format for our local community to still go out and enjoy themselves in such an unprecedented time.”
He continues, “Audio from the drive-in cinema is played through an FM radio frequency, so for our local customers and Mazda fans, the drive-in cinema perfectly complements the standard high quality Mazda audio and premium Bose 12-speaker surround sound systems equipped in our fantastic vehicles and will offer drivers a true unique cinematic experience.”
The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity is the only dedicated charity for patients and research at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust. Operating ten sites across Merseyside and Cheshire, the charity treats 30,000 patients a year; offering invaluable personal contact and support, pioneering chemotherapy, radiotherapy and proton therapy treatments.
Head of Charity at The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, Katrina Bury said: “At a time when our charity events have been heavily impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, we wanted to bring something new, socially distanced and fun to our fundraising calendar. Not only will it raise vital funds to support the work of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, but it’ll give supporters a unique experience set against the stunning backdrop of Thornton Manor. We want to thank our event sponsors Thornton Manor Estate, Mitchell Mazda, Regatta and The Clatterbridge Private Clinic for making Movies at the Manor possible.”
