Move joyfully this Summer in Cheshire West and Chester

Residents are being inspired to move in a way that makes them feel amazing this summer.

Organisations across Cheshire West and Cheshire are running a Joyful Movement campaign from 15 July to 11 August to encourage people off the sofa.

But the emphasis is firmly on fun, rather than keeping fit or embarking on a healthy lifestyle.

Joyful Movement is being launched by the Eat Well Be Active partnership, which includes Cheshire West and Chester Council, Active Cheshire, the NHS, Brio Leisure, the School Sports Partnership, Motherwell, Fallen Angels and the Mersey Forest and more.

Cllr Lisa Denson, the Council’s Cabinet Member for A Fairer Future (Poverty, Public Health and Mental Health) said:

“Joyful Movement can be anything,”

“It could be dancing around your kitchen while you cook your tea, pushing the grandkids on the swings, doing some gardening, litter-picking or going for a walk with your friends – things that are easy to do and make you happy.

“It might be the things you would traditionally think of, like running, playing sport or going to the gym, but for people who aren’t keen on activities like that, don’t let it put you off movement altogether.

“There are loads of easy things you can do that make you feel good, and July is a great time to get moving – joyfully.”

Jack Davies, Strategic Lead for Active Environments at Active Cheshire, said:

“The Joyful Movement campaign aims to demonstrate how engaging with movement in a positive and meaningful way can support an active lifestyle at every stage of life.

“This campaign will showcase a diverse range of groups and individuals participating in movement activities that bring them joy, with the goal of inspiring others to include more movement in their daily lives.”

During the campaign the Eat Well Be Active partners will be sharing photos and videos of Joyful Movement on social media to inspire others.
