Source of Sandycroft/Queensferry odour identified

Flintshire County Council is now able to provide a further update regarding the ‘odour’ issue that has been causing concern in the Sandycroft, Queensferry and Mancot areas of the county.

Following an extensive investigation, officers can confirm that the likely source of the odour are the Waste Water Sewage Systems and Queensferry Treatment Plant, that are managed by Dwr Cymru/Welsh Water (DC/WW).

Officers are in direct communication with DC/WW regarding this matter and they have assured the Council they seek to resolve the odour issues. They have asked that any further complaints be directed to them by calling:

0800 0853968

or online here.

Those affected are encouraged to continue logging the times they are affected by the odour and report it to DC/WW to help inform their investigation.

In the meantime, officers from Flintshire County Council will continue to work with DC/WW to monitor progress.

Cabinet Member for Planning, Public Health and Public Protection, Councillor Chris Bithell, said:

“We would like to thank residents and businesses for their patience and support. We understand it has taken a long time to get to this point, but rest assured the Council has been doing everything it can to seek to identify the source.

“Going forward we will work with DC/WW to ensure the issues are resolved. In the meantime, please continue to make a note of when your area is affected and the intensity of the odour, and report it directly to DC/WW.”
