At around 4.20pm on Friday 14 August, police received reports of an incident that had taken place on the A49 on the Cheshire/Shropshire border near to Bradley Green Lane.

Officers arrived at the scene to find that the incident involved a lorry driver and a motorcyclist.  The lorry driver – a 60-year-old man from Cumbria – had sustained serious injuries.  He was airlifted to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The motorcyclist – who is described as a white man – left the scene, and enquiries are ongoing to locate him.  He was wearing black trousers, black boots and a short sleeved black top with a black waistcoat over the top.  His was also wearing a dark coloured helmet with light writing on it.  The motorbike was red with a black seat and a black and grey carry case on the back.

Detective Chief Inspector Gav Day said:  "From initial enquiries we believe that this incident is the result of a road-related dispute that has taken place.  We are piecing together as much information as we can to establish exactly what has happened and to locate the person responsible.  Officers have already spoken to a number of people at the scene and enquiries have been ongoing throughout the night.

“I would urge anyone who was driving in the area around that time and who may have seen something and have not yet come forward to please get in touch.  I’d also like to hear from anyone who has dashcam footage that may have captured something before or after the incident, which could help the investigation.

“Even the smallest amount of information can be crucial when piecing together a case.”
