WIRRAL AUTISM CHARITY’S VIRTUAL SUMMER FAIR RETURNS FOR SECOND YEAR

Wirral charity Autism Together is refusing to let the pandemic get in the way of its annual summer fair, and is taking the fun online for the second year running.

Last year, when Covid-19 hit, the Wirral-based charity moved its popular and traditional Summer Fun Day from a village hall onto the internet.
The event proved extremely popular and raised even more funds than usual, so the charity – which runs services for over 400 autistic adults, while offering support for young children and families too – is making the event ‘virtual’ once more.
Autism Together’s Second Annual Virtual Summer Fun Day will take place on the charity’s own Facebook page this Sunday, July 25th.:
The Summer Fun Day team will be taking over the Facebook page from 10am that day to share video content showcasing various areas of the organisation, goods from local sellers and entertainment from the people the charity supports.
Funds raised from this year’s event will go towards the installation of an external defibrillator at the charity’s Port Sunlight River Park site – an item which could save the lives of autistic people working at the park, the charity’s staff, volunteers, supporters or the general public who enjoy the site daily.
Chloe Jones, who is leading the charity’s Virtual Funday Team, said:
“The Summer Fun Day remains one of the highlights in our calendar and a vital fundraiser for our charity.
“After the success of last year, it made perfect sense to go virtual once more rather than risk having to cancel the event at the last minute.
“This year, we have some amazing content, including pizza making in our outside oven, a virtual tour of our Port Sunlight River Park, fun with our farm animals, along with an exhibition of the amazing art the people we support created during lockdown.
“Plus, we’re going to go live at 3pm when I will officially reveal the winners of our Pet Photo Competition. So don’t miss that!”
“Expect engaging, fun and entertaining videos and posts throughout the day. New Facebook posts will arrive every 20 minutes from 10am through until 4.30pm.
“We look forward to welcoming you, virtually, to our Fun Day.”
Autism Together’s Virtual Summer Funday takes place on Sunday, July 25th, from 10am – 4.30pm.
